"I was born in the winter / Among the lowering mountains / And my first sight of the world / Snow and wind about my ears"

Rob Donn, Strathmore poet

 Simple can be beautiful.

The inspiration for the interior of the Strathmore Lodge comes from the happy memories of our childhood. From the long Scandinavian summer days by the coast in simple wooden houses tugged low in the sand-dunes overgrown by long grasses swaying in the sea breeze. High blue skies above the soft waves slowly licking the sandy beaches. From the rainy and windy long autumn weekends sitting by the fireplace having a drink and reading a book left from last year's visit.

Strathmore Lodge has an eclectic bohemian and Bloomsbury inspired tone of voice. On the original wood cladding walls hangs a collection of vintage posters with drawings from around 1920's and 1930 when the Lodge was build. The wood gives a very special warmth and cosiness, which the Danes call "Hygge" [Hü-Ga]. The small, tin-clad lodge was opened 2017 after an extensive renovation. It is a self catered property for up to six people. The Lodge has three double bedrooms with wonderful new beds. A bathroom with a showerhead (handheld) and bathtub. A cosy living room with an original Morsoe cast iron fireplace and a lovely kitchen that is the natural centre of the house.

While the lodge carries WildLand’s design sensibility, this is a truly off-grid experience - harking back to a simple way of life.

 For true adventurers.

The Nature - We have always been told that nature is good for us. That we should spend more time in nature for the sake of our physical and mental health. Here is your chance to get out there. On your own or sharing the experience with your loved ones. On the vast private grounds, you have a variety of outdoor activities at your disposal.

Fishing - Some say, that the rivers of this part of Scotland offers the best fishing water in the world. Strathmore is situated right at the bank of the Strathmore River which is great for salmon and trout fishing. Together with Kinloch Lodge we offer 6 rods in the rivers on the estate.

Hiking & Moutainbiking - Spend an unforgettable day hiking the glens. Take in the feeling of being in one of the last remote natural areas in Europe. The remote and sheer vastness of the nature have a great influence on the human soul as if putting everything in the right perspective. Bring your own bike or let us help you organise what you need for the perfect ride on the trails of the estate. We are happy to advise on memorable routes of the estate, trail-running or mountain-biking.
